Londolozi Lodge

On the Sand River, in the very heart of the Sabi Sand, where geography is the whole story.

Londolozi sits on the Sand River in the very heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and geography is the whole story here. The Sabi Sand forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a conservation area that currently covers six million acres and takes in the Kruger National Park. Six million acres is difficult to picture. What matters is what it means: animals move freely across the entire space, unbothered by where one reserve ends and the next begins.

That freedom is what a Londolozi game drive feels like. The wildlife you find on the Sand River is not confined to a property; it is passing through, on its own itinerary, and the reserve is simply where you happened to intersect. Game viewing on this scale has a different quality. It is less a matter of finding animals and more a matter of being present when they arrive.

The river does the rest. A lodge on the Sand River in the Sabi Sand is about as well placed as a safari lodge can be, and Londolozi has the unhurried confidence of a place that knows it.

For anyone who wants their first Sabi Sand safari to be the real thing, this is where the conversation usually starts.
