Anjajavy le Lodge on its peninsula on Madagascar's northwest coast, between the turquoise sea, the natural reserve and the beach

Madagascar

A safari here is a different animal: a peninsula between a turquoise sea and a reserve, tents between coral and primary rainforest, and a lakeside table at Ampefy. Three places, no more.

Anjajavy le Lodge, northwest coast

A safari in Madagascar is a different animal. There are no Big 5 reserves on this page. There is a peninsula on the northwest coast where Anjajavy le Lodge sits between a turquoise sea, a natural reserve and sandy beaches, and keeps surprising you.

On the coast at Masoala the lodge is tented: rooms between a coral-rich sea and primary rainforest, with forest walks, snorkelling, kayaking, whale-watching and private beaches. And inland, on the shores of Lake Itasy in Ampefy, Farihy Hotel is at heart a lakeside restaurant of authenticity, simplicity and generosity, cooking regional specialities and fish.

Three is not many, and we would rather it stayed that way than pad the list. Each is here because we would send you there, and the line beneath each name is the reason why.
