Thakadu Bush Camp makes no grand claims, which is refreshing. It offers a true bush experience with, in the camp's own words, all the rustic authenticity it can muster, and it has built a solid reputation on two things travellers actually need: a comfortable sleep and very good food.

This is a stopover camp in the best sense. The kind of place you arrive at dusty from the road, eat far better than you expected, sleep properly, and leave the next morning slightly reluctant to go. Plenty of camps aim for that. Thakadu appears to have simply got on with delivering it.

The camp is now growing with the help of the next generation, who are expanding it while holding onto the original vision. That is a delicate thing to do well, and the fact that they describe it that way suggests they know it.
