Camp Moremi

Classic safari, contemporary lodge. It turns out those two things get along rather well.

Camp Moremi has a legacy in the Botswana safari business that it did not acquire by accident. For years it has been known as a camp that delivers the classic African safari, the version most people picture before they have ever been on one, and that reputation is the sort that is earned slowly and lost quickly.

In 2018 the camp was completely rebuilt as a modern safari lodge, which is a braver decision than it sounds. Rebuild a legacy badly and you have a new lodge with an old name. Camp Moremi seems to have understood that the point was to keep the experience and update everything around it.

The wildlife does not care what year the lodge was built.

The setting has not changed. Camp Moremi sits within the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most renowned reserves in Botswana and a name that needs little introduction to anyone who has spent time reading about the country. The wildlife does not care what year the lodge was built. It simply carries on, and the lodge has been arranged so that you can watch it do so from somewhere comfortable.
