Camp Xakanaxa

Two entirely different Africas before dinner, from the same camp, without repacking a bag.

First, the pronunciation: Ka-ka-na-ka. Get that right and the rest of the trip goes better.

Camp Xakanaxa sits on the banks of the Khwai River where it meets the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, and its location is what sets it apart. This is one of the very few safari camps that can offer a genuine Okavango Delta safari by both land and water, all year round. Most camps in the Delta are one or the other, or one for part of the year. Xakanaxa is both, always.

Rivers in the Okavango are where things happen, and a camp on the banks of one has already won half the argument.

In practice that means a day can begin on a game drive through Moremi and end on the lagoon, with the light going soft over the water and the engine cut. Two entirely different Africas before dinner, from the same camp, without repacking a bag. Anyone who has moved between Delta camps to get both will appreciate how rare that is.

The Khwai River does the rest. Rivers in the Okavango are where things happen, and a camp on the banks of one has already won half the argument.

Ka-ka-na-ka. You will be saying it for years.
